Our Curriculum

Learning is our core purpose at LGHS where we adopt a christian - centered approach.

Different Directions

The school runs both the Nigerian and British curricula. The first three years are for Junior Secondary School and the students obtain Basic Education Certificate after writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). The last three years lead to students sitting both the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination to obtain Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).

The National Examination Council Curriculum for JS 1 – 3 focuses on the following subjects:

  1. English Language

  3. A Nigerian Language: Yoruba Language
  4. Basic Science and Technology (BST):
  • Basic Science which comprises Biology, Chemistry and Physics
  • Basic Technology
  • Physical and Health Education
  • Information & Communication Technology (ICT)
  1. Pre-Vocational Studies (PVS) :
  • Home Economics
  • Agriculture
  1. Religion and Values Education (RVE):
    • Christian Religious Knowledge
    • Social Studies
    • Security Education
    • Civic Education
  1. Cultural and Creative Arts (CCA) which comprises Music, Fine Art and Drama.
  2. French Language
  3. Business Studies

While the senior school runs the WAEC and IGCSE curricula from SS1 to SS3. The following subjects are offered in senior school.

GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA) CALCULATION

 GPA is calculated using the grade points above. The first three years (Junior School 1-3) and the last three years (Senior School 1-3) are computed separately.  All subjects, whether passed or failed, are included in the computation.

 Students are ranked according to their cumulative grade point average (CGPA).
